Default Wish Texas wasn't so strict

So..I've seen posts from people (in other states) who go to visit their loved ones & get to sit next to them, be close enough to sit & hug. I wish Texas would allow that. I'm grateful to be able to visit my hubby period but would LOVE to be able to be in his arms the whole time This is a very emotional time, especially for the wives...being able to be held I know for me would help a little. A little reassurance its all gonna be ok. In his arms is where I feel the safest Just saying.....

I agree. I would love to sit next to my hubby instead of sitting across from him. Conjugal visits would be nice too but in Texas it won't happen.

I agree. It would also be nice if my husband could wear his wedding band. Holding each other during visits and conjugal visits would be the best.

I, too, am grateful for any time we get together.. But dang, some states have it so good! They can have super long like 6+ hr visits, food visits, bbqs, picnics, they can move around, walk to the vending machines together and stuff, there are jungle gyms and play rooms for the kids, conjugal visits, board games and cards to play at visit, etc etc etc. Wish we could get a little taste of that!

It is wishful thinking I guess. Conjugal would be great but as usual this is Texas.

A few yrs back when my friend was in here in AZ all of his visits were contact, regardless of your relation to them. We were literally only friends, ever. Each inmate could also have up to 6 adult visitors at a time (depending on how crowded it was) and once every Quarter, if they had good behavior each inmate got a "Food Visit" where they could have their friends and family cook (or buy) a few dishes and bring them in with them when they visited. There was also no time limit on your visit - they opened at 8am and closed at 4pm (there was a time limit on the food visits if a lot of people showed up that weekend, but it was still about 4hrs). If you were there when they opened the gates you didn't have to leave until they closed for the day and you could do the Sat & Sun every week. Visiting for the first time in TX was pretty unsettling.

My husband is in County and they took his ring and I retrieved it with his personal belongings, but he told me that in TDCJ they allow you to wear your wedding ring, is that not true anymore?

They are allowed if they go in with it. My husband and I got married while he is in, he didn't have a band and I can't send him his.

I just flew 1700 miles for a visit in Texas. I got two 4 hour visits through glass. Thankfully the warden where he's at agreed that even though I'm not family, as long as I don't try any shady business in my non-contact visits this last time, he'll approve us for contact visits from now on. Even though the rules are strict, wardens do have some leeway to work with their inmates if they really want to.

Wardens and other staff can be wonderful, when they want to. I get contact visits with my best friend from high school because his family never visits and the warden approved it.
I hope you do get a contact visit next time

if Max is denied for parole again this year, I am going to marry him to finally get the damn contact visits. We have been holding off for a real wedding, but screw that, I am ready to hold his hands, give him a kiss and hug, even if I cant be in his arms. We can always do the real wedding when he gets home, rather its next year or in 15 years. GOD FORBID.
