Pregnant Inmates

Hello,

New to this forum - found it (thanks to Google) while researching for a school project I am doing about pregnant incarcerated women. I am a third year nursing student in Alberta.

There is a lot of information about American prisons, and their policies around childbirth, but virtually none on Canadian prisons. I wonder if there are any women, or friends/family of those women, who have experienced giving birth as a prisoner, and would be willing to share their story (anonymously) with me. Feel free to respond to this thread, or message me privately if you prefer.

I am interested in the following:

a) your experience being pregnant as an inmate
b) your experience giving birth as an inmate
c) your experience post-partum as an inmate
d) social support that was available to you during and after pregnancy
e) education that was available to you during and after pregnancy
f) prenatal care you may (or may not) have received as an inmate

I am coming to the end of the research, as the project will be published next week, but I thought it would be worth a shot for any last minute input. I will post a link to the project when it is finished if anyone is interested.

Not sure, but I'm pregnant and my boyfriend is in jail. Lol. He left when I was 3 months, I am now about to give birth any day. Only 6 and a half months tell he's home, but we get an answer about parole this month so we will see
