Confused about release process (TDCJ)

Hi Everyone.. I haven't been here since 2008, but I must say when I first came I was desperate and depressed and didn't know what to do with myself much less what to do for my dad who is the inmate. Everyone who replied to my posts was so helpful and sweet and I really appreciate that.

Anyway, I have my dad's release date which is in 2012 but I have no idea where I would go pick him up or what time or what to do. i've read so many different stories but they're mostly about parole. he will have completed his sentence so he won't have to deal with parole or probation officers. On the other hand, it says that he is in jail for indecency with a child. Before you respond to this post, please don't judge. Indecency with child is only a "label" and they throw all prisoners with that "title" in the same category. Everyone's story is different and there are two sides to every story. My dad is not a child molester and he would never do anything to harm a child. I can put my life on this. I just want to know, if he's not coming out on parole or on probation but he will be completing his time, will he still have to register as a sex offender all the time? I'm so scared for him and I know how people with that label are treated. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Congratulations on your father's release date being so close! You may want to post this thread in "Loving a Sex Offender" because they may be able to provide you a little more information on your father needing to register, where to do that, how quickly, etc. You just may get a little more information than you would here.

As far I know though, he will have to register for the rest of his life.
