My boyfriend finally met with his counselor last week!!! I have a question, I submitted my application to visit him about last week, I understand it might take a few months to get approved, but by then he might be gone to another prison, he told me in about 1-3 weeks he'll probably be moved. Does anyone know if i'll need to fill out another application when he moves? Or will it be in a CDCR computer system?

You will probably have to re apply when he transfers. If you just sent it out i doubt it will be processed. another member here talked to someone in the visiting department last week and they were barely on march. The good thing is that in his new facility it will not take as long because most inmates with visitors have their loved ones apply while in reception so they have fewer applications to process

If her man already saw her counselor she won't make it to the 6-8 week mark. He will be gone by then.

Default confusing issue re locating an inmates mailing address:

i found out he was here from the LASD inmate info page the day he arrived & finally this morning his CDC# came up on-line. i call the PIO & ask for his housing/mailing address whereupon he tells me that information is not given to callers because of security reasons(he specifically stated because "victims try to contact the inmates";also that i have to get the housing/mail address via mail from the inmate themselves)& the only thing he can tell me is if the inmate is at Wasco. I give him the CDC#,he confirms my bf is there, i said "ok so i have to wait til he writes me to get his address, right?" ( i'm gonna have a mini meltdown when i hang up, ready to cry) then he says well what you do is you go look at the facility address list on line, and the one with the highest letter is where you send it to. for example A,B,C,D, send it to D & he'll get it. So the highest was H. i sent it. but the whole thing was like being in the Twilight Zone & even though i'm accustomed to T.Z. experiences, it rattled my cage & i wondered what anyone might make of this. thanx for letting me vent.

wow i am surprised that they told you that. Call Wasco again and select Inmate Records or ask the opereator to transfer you. Once you get Records ask for his housing number. That PIO was lazy.

American Curves is fine. You can not send any magazine that has tattoo designs/patterns, guns/weapons or nudity. I'm sure there are more things that I can not think of right now.

I just sent a friend in Wasco, American Curves and Lowrider from www.inmatemags.com

They are fast.

My son is currently in reception at WASCO. When can he receive a quarterly packages? Does he have to wait until mainlined/transferred or can he receive hygiene and items while in reception? Last time he went through reception he was transferred out quickly but it seems like they are holding inmates longer due to available beds. I can't call long distance to find out. Any help is appreciated.

A week is not to bad.
When my guy was first sent to wasco, it took a week before I got his first letter.

For a couple months after that it would take one-two weeks for him to get my letters. And approx 4 days to get post cards.

He was finally mainlined this week, but for the last few weeks of his stay there the letter took 2-4 days to get to him. You should receive all his letter within 2-3 days.

No packages in reception. He can buy what he needs from the commissary. He can shop once a month a total of $110. You can add funds to his account by visiting www.jpay.com if he owes restitution they will take 55% from any funds deposited.

He will be in reception 3-4 months of he is a level 1 or 2. If he is level 3 or 4, seems to be taking up to a year because of lack of beds to transfer them.

Thanks for the quick response...I couldn't find the answer on the CDCR website...I know he "owes" but not sure how much. He will just have to wait a while I guess...thanks Xiu Xiu!

But to say that I know someone or that my husband has had a cell mate in his yard leave early, no. All this is very new so everyone in each facility or system ( jail) is handling different. What I do know is as far the realignment is that every JAIL facility has the OPTION to release inmates early doing prison time in county due to overcrowding.

There are wayyyyyyyy too many rumors out there to believe any. My husband has been doing this, or we, for over 20 years and those rumors are still floating now. They've just changed a few things now with realignment.

Now. yes his 50% started since the day he got to Wasco. He can shave off up to 6 weeks off a year if he signs up for the Milestone classes or 28 days off if he takes the GED class and passes.

My husband got to wasco 5-11-12 and applied for the milestone class. They have u take a test and if they score over a certain number they say u dont quali. Basically if ur man has any skills and is proficent with job skills there is a chance he wont qualify. My husband didn't qualify. Thats what he wrote me about. He was bummed. Also when he was sentenced and got his credits for time served, he was still getting credit for 50% or double time while he was in county and its still going at wasco. Dont know if this helps anyone. Im hoping hes out of that pit soon and sent to a mainline where at least he can call and i can have contact visits!

Wow!my husband hates the food there! He said our county had better food. Also he got a porter job @wasco and quit because he could serve food the way the other porters were. Extra portions to the cool, tough or scary guys and smaller inappropriate portions to the old, really young or " weak" men. His words. And he couldnt do that. So back on his bunk he is!!! Cant wait for him to get transfered, this is super stressful for all of us. As he is trying to be good and not catch more time for bs.

Yes they do make you take a test. He knew about that so he purposely tried not to do well but still scored on the higher said. They told him because of his score he would have to do his GED first then once he passes that he can take Milestone classes for computers. We are done with this bid and was only in for a few months but he was able to take 3 weeks off this time around. Good looking out on the test taking first, that will help some ladies on her to pass along to their LO.

My hubby got there may 11 and saw a lady councilor already. Not sure if was cause he's on meds for bi polar or what. But maybe ur hunny will see one soon. There are no guarantees about anything im finding out in wasco! Seems like everyone does what they want depending on the shift and what mood they are in. Lol. Just pray thats all any of us can do.

Default question about mailing stamps to reception

not sure if this is a reception or a mailing question: can i send a sheet of stamps to my bf in reception? It says "book", & I KNOW BETTER than to proceed on just the assumption that other formats are ok. Any feedback or suggestions would be helpful. thank you all.

It took almost three weeks for my husband to get my letters. It seemed like forever. Im assuming he was in county then moved to reception? I just checked the inmate locator daily for his new cdc# and then called wasco and got his address info and started mailing him letters. U might want to go to the post office and buy some prestamped envelopes and some paper(40 sheets max) and send them out asap so he can write u and not have to "borrow" anything. Usually it takes a week or so for mail to get to him unless its pictures etc. Hope that helps!
