My fiance and I are trying to get married at USP big sandy. We really haven't been working on it for that long but I was wondering if anyone has been thru it before . I want to know the exact process to go through. Every step I have to take and what's expected of me if anyone knows anything your info would be greatly appreciated thank you!

I am also looking for information on getting married at big sandy, but haven't found much info yet, my fiancé told me I have to write to the prison and ask for permission to marry the inmate and wait for approval. I'm confused!

I know yall are asking about marriage. Do you know why they have been on lockdown 4 a week? My friend hasnt been there long but seems they are on lockdowm a lot...

I was wondering the same thing. I can not seem to find any info anywhere about it.

So I was just approved for marriage through Tucson USP, I think the process is the same...
1. You have to send for a letter of intent to Marry to his counselor
2. They run your background if you HAVE been approved for visits this is pretty fast if not it can take up to 90 days. I am an approved visitor so it took 7 business days.
3. The counselor, the chaplain, and then the warden sign of it. Tell your man to use every contact he has.
4. the biggest hold up is making sure if you marry you can not assist him in a current criminal case and if you have children to check the SO's list.
5. My advice, write letters, I wrote one to all three the counselor, chaplain, and warden and the process took 2.5 weeks.

I called Big Sandy today. They could be on lockdown for 6months. They are having problems with gangs. I have written the warden and the B.O.P. Good luck

My fiancé is at USP Big Sandy he has been able to call me every morning. They are still on lockdown due to inmate fights but the lockdown should be lifted by Monday!!! But good luck.. Hopefully they do let them off lockdown by Monday cause they have Been surviving on the little bit of store they have purchased. I'm just glad I get to hear from my love every morning.. He's my pride and joy!!!!
