Hi everyone! I'm moving back to CA in February! (I don't really know what I'm doing, driving across country in February, but wish me luck!) And the route I'm taking goes through southern CA and then up 99, so I'll be driving past Corcoran. I have a 3 year old and I'm driving with my mom, so I'm not sure if i'll be able to stop and visit my honey in the SHU.

But my question is, will they care if I make an appointment for an interview since this is my first time visiting, and then don't keep it? I want to keep the option to visit open for me so if I'm able to talk my mom into watching my kid for a couple hours I can... but I might just have to wait for the next weekend...

Also, will I only get 2 hours even if I'm coming from out of state? should I tell them I'm moving to CA? or not and get the 2 hours. And, how often will they let me see him for 2 hours?

It's my understanding they will still bring him in, so if the appt is for 2hrs he would sit there for the entire time.

2hrs is the max visit length. I come from out of state as well. If you are further than 250 mi. according to their map, you are allowed the 2hr visits every 30 days. If you were to drive down and visit on Saturday and then stay over for the Sunday visit that one would be a 2 hr visit as well. But there must be 30 days between the visits.

Be sure to request the 2 hr visit, they will not just willingly set you up for it. A few months back a woman travelled to Corcoran SHU to visit from Canada to visit for 1 hr each day because it was not requested for the longer visit.

Drive safe!

They will bring them up anyway so he would need to know you might not be able to make it or he will probably be worried something happened on the drive.
I saw a few guys who were brought up over Christmas that were just standing, waiting for the whole time.
I had some issues with my visit and so got to see the guys from the central command area, about 40 min. into the hour.
Drive safe and I hope you can have two visits, enjoy you time together and welcome back!

Yeah, they will make him sit there for 2 hours, as for the babysitting you can always take her to the friends outside building, they will watch her as long as you have her birth certificate...they watched my son when I *forgot his birth certificate*, they made an acception because It was a shu visit and i came from San Diego.

Welcome to the COR! I am personally a COR SHU lady so you will need to be clearer on what type of visitation you are asking about. Is your loved one mainlined or is he part of the SHU? If he is a part of the SHU I can try and answer any of your questions as best I can. If you are to visit the mainline then there will be someone else who cam come on by and answer any questions. So I suppose first off you need to let us know which type of visit you are looking at here...contact or no contact....

Hi Ladies! My name is Lyn…My husband may be transferring to the LEVEL 2 GENERAL POPULATION YARD, in a couple of weeks… I have a few questions about this facility. Any help is greatly appreciated…

How often do LOCKDOWNS occur in the LEVEL 2 GP YARD?

How often do you ladies receive calls from your Loved One’s in a LEVEL 2 GP YARD?
For instance, does your Loved One call once a day or every other day?

How often do you have FAMILY VISITS? (Every 30-45-60-90 days)

Where are the foods ordered for FAMILY VISITS? Are they packaged ordered?
The last location my husband was at, we ordered our food from Albertsons?

THANK U VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE… THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME EXPERIENCING A CHANCE OF FACILITY, SO I AM PRETTY NERVOUS W/ HAVING TO LEARN EVERYTHING AGAIN.

Default How do I get conjugal visits at Corcoran?

This is my first time using this... My husband is at Corcoran state prison in california. If there is someone with their husband there i would appreciate your response. He has been gone now for 14 months, he still has 2 and 1\2 years to go! I said i would never think about conjical visits, although i feel it is important for us to have the one on one bonding time through these really hard time. I dont know anything about the visits, what to expect, how to go about getting one, and if they even offer them at that prison. If anyone has advice or info please reply to me. God Bless.

Hello everyone,
I was denied visitation to see my boyfriend at corcoran because my license was revoked. Ok so now that I took care of that and got my license back how do I go about getting approved for visitation? Oh yeah and their about to move him from corcoran to wasco next month so do I contact the warden at wasco when he gets there or do I just apply like I did before as if I wasn't even denied the first time at corcoran. If I do have to contact the warden at wasco how do I contact him/her? I know I have a lot of questions, but I'm in need of some help. Thanks!

If he's moving soon. I would just wait to apply at wasco since you application might not be completed by the time he moves.

When you apply just make sure you have listed all and you should be okay.

How long did it take you all to get approved or denied for visiting after sending in your application? Just trying to get an idea.

Hello, I will be visiting my cousin in a few weeks. I have already been approved and he is on the main line. I would like to know what the visiting process is, do I need an appt? What time to arrive and what to expect in regards to clothing, jewelery, etc. Do we get a full visit? Any info would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome.
I can't answer most of your questions since I visit shu but I believe you can have a prescription set of glasses,on ring, one watch, one set of earrings, one necklace.
No clevage,4 inch plus sleeves, your straps can't show through your shirt, black is the most "safe" color but they are not overly strict about colorings.I would avoid blue, green, and brown.
Bring a change of clothes that you know are approvable just in case, shoes too.
I don't think gp needs appointments but perhaps someone who visits gp can confirm. No parking or entry permits needed and lots of parking is available after 8 a.m. but not before then.No cell phones allowed.
The main visiting area is very easy to find, right where you park.
I would be there at least a half hour before your appointment.
They will have you fill out a short form with your information.
Remember you cdl must be current and in hand.
You should be able to have a full visit though it will kind of be a "holiday" with Valentines day the 14th so perhaps more full than usual.
Make sure they are not on lock-down though since they have had a riot and then two recent killings.
Enjoy your visit!

Unless for some reason he is behind plexiglass, you'll be able to hug and kiss him :]
