Hi Ladies-

My husband just got transferred to CCI yesterday. I called and got his housing so I can send him supplies. I just had a quick question, what's with the 4 letters in front of his bed number? Never really seen this before. Thanks

No. They told me to put the level next to CCI when I write him. They said to put that above his name. Then below his name these 4 letters seperated by dashes then 106-up which is the bed. Weird, never seen this before, and he's been in CCI before. I'm going to wait and see when he calls, if they have phones working.

Hi Beebeek1,
Not to alarm you but my son arrived there 12 days ago. I just received a letter Friday. It's bad. They don't have their property, no phone calls, no visits, no yard, cell fed, we can't order packages. My son has nothing. He said all he can do is stare at the wall all day. They said maybe 3 more weeks till he gets his property. I am devastated. This is so inhumane. I've made phone calls, but have gotten no where. I was told to be patient. Before they can get out of their cells, they need to empty 3 more reception buildings, about 600 inmates. So sorry to tell you this.

Hi Cindy1960, my son arrived there 12 days, ago I received a letter Friday, that broke my heart. They have nothing, and he was told maybe 3 more weeks till he gets his property. So all these guys have is a toilet, bed and sink. I think all of us on Prisontalk that have loved ones in this situation need to call and complain. I feel that this is so inhumane. Maybe we can get them to do something, if we all band together.

Said were working on moving Level III GP to another facility, once that's done...there will be phones. I am so worried it is making me sick.

If it's true that they are holding their property, it's against their constitutional rights:

"Even the most chronic or hardened inmates have basic rights that are protected by the U.S. Constitution. If you are facing incarceration, you should know your rights. If you have a family member or friend who is in prison or jail, you should know what their rights are, as well. "

  • Inmates have the right to be free, under the Eighth Amendment, from inhuman conditions because those conditions constitute "cruel and unusual" punishment. Any punishment that can be considered inhumane treatment or that violates the basic concept of a person's dignity may be found to be cruel and unusual. Example : In 1995, a federal court in Massachusetts found that inmates' constitutional rights were violated when they were held in a 150-year-old prison that was infested with vermin, fire hazards, and a lack of toilets.
  • Inmates have the right to be free from racial segregation in prisons, except where necessary for preserving discipline and prison security.
  • I believe the deliberate segregation of Level III SNY as a result of the prison not being set up to receive them; and problems with level III GP should not even be occurring, they're all level III, why are they, and their families deprived of visiting, phones, letters, mail...I have yet to hear anything via mail..1 letter that took 2 weeks to get here...that's it.
  • Inmates are entitled, under the Due Process Clause of the Constitution, to be free from unauthorized and intentional deprivation of their personal property by prison officials.

Why weren't they told this bull* before they were transferred? It is starting to get on my last nerve...coulda' stayed at KVSP level 4 and had more privileges. As for everyone jumping off on the yard, that happens at all prisons....it's a scary thing to hear, but I am told to expect it. I'm so sick of this I could scream.

This is a violation of their rights...and depriving us of any type of contact is in my opinion, cruel and unusual punishment.

Not trying to cause problems, just

Damn & its cold for them there too!!!?

Hi Beebeek1, the problem is that since this was a reception yard with 5 buildings, they have to empty every one till they are allowed outside for their protection. I was told when I called that 3 more buildings need to be emptied for a total of 600 inmates. Who knows how long that's going to take. My son came from Soledad also, which was a 5 hour drive for me. Tehachapi is only an hour away, and so that's why he volunteered to go. The guys were not told about these terrible conditions, because no one would have volunteered to go and they need to fill up the Level 3. His Cellie from Soledad, just called me this morning and told me another twenty guys left last week. The week when my son, 80 were transferred. He told me he doesn't have a new cellie, and the yard is like a ghost town, compared to all the guys that were there before. I'm going to make some more calls tomorrow, but I don't expect to get anywhere. They just tell me to be patient. Well, that doesn't help my son who's sitting there with absolutely nothing. I can't imagine sitting in a cell for 24 hours a day, with not even a book to read to hold their attention. Awful!! I'm so sorry for you as well.

Default Re; Form

Bee beek1 the form I believe is called a 602. I know it's cold there, because before he was at Soledad, he was at North Kern, I drove there every week, and drove through Tehachapi. It's beautiful, lots of windmillls, but it is cold. It snowed several times when I went but the road was never shut down fortunately.

Ramzam, Beebeek1 is correct. Its only for the new lv3 sny yard.
I also do NOT understand why they didnt make this a bit easier on these guys. Who the heck would volunteer to go there if the place is sooooo much worse.
They should have set it up with much much better planning.
(oh and yes, its a 602 form to complain)

I hope very much they get their stuff together soon so you all can have *normal* things like phone calls, and prompter mail.
ug. How crappy.

Wait till he gets there to get the bed number. My hubby arrived there on Thursday and I was able to call Friday to get housing info. Praying the conditions improve for them and regular program resumes.

If anyone talks to their loved ones and can remember I would greatly appreciate if you could ask if they know George Rosales and if he is ok. I know it's alot to ask just worried now.
