Default Creative, sweet, funny, and or plain ol good ideas for sending to inmates

Hey yall, im jamie and im tryung to breathe a bit of life back into the sc portion of pto! I thought a thread about what to send our inmates would be a great idea....so lets all share the little things we send to our loved ones to brighten thier day....
There is a great deal of poetry in the poetry forum right here on pto....some of it is really good. Maybe copy a poem that touches you and send to your loved one (be a true southner yall and give the author thier credit)
I love chienese food and everytime we go I grab ny hubby a fortune cookie and include it in his letters....he loves it...a little reminder of home!
Perfume and colonge sample pages out of magazines are a good thing to send too although some prisons throw them away I know trenton and kershaw let them go thru...of course R&E wont!
I have a few more but I wanna hear your ideas....what do you do to make your letters special?
Come one Come all.....share!

Awesome thread!!!

Honestly, I didn't know you could send anything unless it's just straight text. I printed a daily devotional page off the Internet and they returned it to me because there was a small ad and logo across the top of the page. Ridiculous.

Besides cards and books (TONS of books), I've gotten my son 2 car magazine subscriptions. He loves them!

The fortune from the cookie is a great idea!! Can't wait to hear other creative ideas...cuz I ain't very creative!! lol

My friend and I play 20 questions. We ask any 20 questions we want but we can only have one answer. It tends to lead to great conversations in our letters. I also write him like a daily journal . I do it as if I'm talking to him. Sometimes I will even write, "hold on a minute" lol Then at the end of the page I write a scripture from the Bible. he love it.

The 2o questions thing is a Good idea! Love it!
I write daily letters to my man too....half of them start off with dear diary.....instead of his name.
When he was on scdc a few years ago he had sent me a picture of himmself....well I took that picture with me to the beach. I took several pictures of me holding the picture up by my face....i told him I took him to the beach for his bday! I also buried the picture in the sand and wiped the samd off his face, captioned it " I buried u in the sand" I held the picture out as ppl were walking by on the beach in thier bikinis...captioned it " I see u checking out her butt" slap"
He loved it...laughed his ass off foe a week! So did ppl in his dorm!

Nope, it was just a random ad like you see as a header on an Internet page. Seems like it was an ad for a Christian band. That's what it was!! Cuz I was sending him lyrics for a song I had heard!! I remember now. It had "Fast Break" as a logo-type header. Just crazy that they sent it back. I ripped the header off and sent it right back.

Uh oh....Fast Break??? They must have thought you were trying to help him escape! LOL I tried to send my husband pictures of the resort we are going to when he gets out and they wouldn't let him have them. If I had printed them on photo paper, he could have had them. So stupid.

I wish I had some creative ideas of things to send him. I scent all my letters to him with my perfume so he has something nice to smell in my letters other than the vile smell there every day. I sent him a bazillion magazines, printed sports info and mailed it to him and I usually send him a card a week.

This is where my hyper-analytical mind kills my creativity. I don't know what else to do for him!

I am not all that creative either. I have printed out some things I have found in the Break Time Threads; Poems and jokes and stuff like that. Of course I have done song lyrics, quotes, inspiring stories I find online etc.
I print out word searches and we have also done the 20 questions, but I am naturally an inquisitive person so most of my letters contain random questions.
We have a 3 yr old so I have send pics/drawings that he has made. I spray different scents on my letters/envelopes. I send cards and postcards too.

At the end of every letter I write "me without you is like ____ with no _____
For Example: Me without you is like popcorn with no butter.
I saw that here on PTO a long time ago and loved the idea and he likes it too. He does it at the end of his letters to me now, too. Its fun to see how creative we can get with it.

I sent postcards too. He graduated from USC, so I sent him some postcards with pictures of different locations on USC's campus. He loved them. He has "decorated" his walls with them. I also sent him a couple of more home-centric locales so he can look at them and remember what he has to come home to. I sent him pics of me, but those were no prize to receive.

I also sent him a USC 2012 calendar with the tear-off sheets. I told him for every day he can tear off that calendar, he is one day closer to coming home.

↑ Lol...that made me laugh. I have only sent 2 pics of myself. Me and cameras do NOT get along well at all! I usually only send the kids. We have a son together and I have a teen daughter that thought of him as her step-dad.
We live at the Beach, well I am still here anyway and he'll be back someday, so I send postcards of 'our favorite spot' on the Beach that we would always go to; either just the two of us or as a family.

↑ That's a good idea. I write everday, for the most part, so I usually just write on the inside of the envelope "one day closer"

Sweet is not really my thing either until it comes to my husband. I turn into a huge ball of mush around him. I lived in NYC for 10 years so I have a pretty tough exterior (and interior too). With him though, he knows how to bring the mush to the surface and make me melt around him. Just hearing his voice will do that. If I look into his eyes, I'm a goner.

Thanks. We met in August 2010 and got married in September 2010. We just instantly knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. If he had asked me to marry him on our first date, I would have. Instead I had to wait 2 weeks : )

I send my son "The Joke of the day." He has loved jokes ever since he was a small boy. I use pictures of my grandsons as the border on my letters. I hope they will.let him have those.

Hi all,
I am new here and would like to send my friend a song dedication on a radiostation in Lewisburg, P.A.. Are there any radiostations anyone could suggest because I am from NJ. Thanks. I am probably posting in the wrong spot, but anyone who could lead me in the right direction would be great! Thanks!

I send my Fiance's jokes and he really loves them because he gets a chance to escape from out of there and when he bust out laughing everyone looks at him like he is crazy. I send him a lot of poems. I sent him a crossword puzzle that I custom made and he really liked it he just asked me for another one. For Christmas and our anniversary I sent him a custom calendar and he really, really enjoyed that. He just sent me something were he wanted us to name 10 things each other did for the other that putted a smile on our face. I sent him 20 things. I write him raps. I send him shoutouts and sometimes I write him as my alter ego and she really be having him going. We have done the code game, we have read a book together and is trying to come up with what other book we can read together.
