Notice to new members intending to register - from January 9th 2012

I heard that a new Fed visting rule goes in affect Feb 4,2012,That there will be NO kissing on the lips at all befor,durning or after we vist,The only thing we will be allowed is a kiss on the cheek. As I said I "HEARD" that so does anyone else know anything about that??

ask co's at ur nxt visit --say i heard and what u said here and say is this true?
best way to find out if rumor is true is by asking sum1 that wuld kno for sure and it wuld be the co's!

I hope that's not true and only a rumor. If so it's true that's some (BS). A inmate already has his freedom taken. Now no kiss. I guess whoever would make a stupid rule like that must have issues of their own.

wow, I haven't heard that I visit Feb 9th I will not be a happy camper that is for sure.. I am sure my husband would have mentioned something like that to me.

I don't think it's true. The issue is defined by BOP Administrative Rule and I have not seen any notice of it being changed nor have the inmates received any kind of written memorandum.

I would always advise NOT asking about a change like this unless there is some kind of written notice - don't want to give anybody in the BOP any ideas.

Oh thank goodness! You guys have NOOOO idea how much I'm dying to kiss him....Ok, haha...actually y'all are the ONLY people who DO understand!

I agree about not giving anyone any ideas. Until someone tells me otherwise as far as I can see at my inmate's facility I can kiss and hug him at the beginning and end of visit, and I can hold his hand during the visit. Eeeeekkkkk....sooo excited!!!!

I asked my husband he said one prison had that rule but wasn't aware of the change other then that. :-/ he said he don't care he's kissing me anyways lol but I doubt its true or our men would know

You can check the visitor rules for each prison on the bop web page. They can be changed and nothing the bop does would surprise me, but this is the current policy.

Socially acceptable gestures of communication and affection, such as shaking hands, kissing, and embracing, are allowed within the limits of goodtaste, and then, only at the beginning and at the end of a visit. Indecent, annoying or excessive contact will not be tolerated.

I do not think this 'Rumor' would ever come into play as its a natural reaction when you see your LO to kiss & hug them. If this happened then it would cause so much uproar it would be like telling people that they could only breathe once every minuite?

IF this were instituted at any institution (and I still think it's pure bad rumor), the inmates should immediately file grievances and the visitors should immediately write the warden, and send a copy to the Regional Office. As I said before, I believe the issue is determined by nation-wide BOP administrative rule.

I know recently that USP Tucson pointed out to us that there is "no open mouth kissing" this was circled in red on the paper that the inmates sign and read upon entry to the visiting area.

My friend in McCreary said there is a memo on thire computers that states there will be NO kissing on the lips after Feb. 4th! Cheeks only. They think contraband is being transmitted that way.

I know that this is a fact at USP McCreary! There is a notice on their computers that there will be no kissing on the lips during visitation. Only a kiss on the cheek will be allowed. They have this in writing already. It goes in affect on February 4th. I am SO MAD about this new rule. I hope that it's not in all BOP facilities though, because my guy is due for a transfer to an FCI in February!

I really really hope it's only that prison! I hate it when a few bad apples who can't follow the rules ruin it for the rest of us!

Why doesn't the COs search the people properly then before allowing visitors inside, I'm sure they know which ones to look out for and which ones don't smuggle, shouldn't be that difficult to stop the items from being smuggled inside without the rest of us having to pay for it! Sucks!
