Smile No more Conjugal vists, so what do they do now?

If there are no more conjugal visits, then what have they implemented in its place? What are mairried couples allowed to do in upstate NY prisons? What are the requirements and which prisons allow these visits?

Anyone that could help, I would appreciate it

NY has the Family Reunion Program. It does not have "conjugal visits". Nothing has been taken away from anyone. All the Family Reunion Programs are still in place. There are some people who want to take it away but that has not happened. Family Reunion Programs let inmates spend approximately 44 hours with their mothers, fathers, their children, their wives, and a variety of other relatives and can be a number of relatives altogether. Most states don't provide Family Reunion Programs much less conjugal visits so we are fortunate to have what we have.

Even though the bill passed the Senate and died in the Assembly does not mean that Senator Nozzolio has stopped trying to have the Family Reunion Program discontinued in our prisons. One of the women I speak with is very involved in watching this and she is stating that he may try to piggy back this onto a bill that Governor Cuomo will sign. She is going to a Public Safety meeting in Albany on the 30th. I understand they have been trying to get this program discontinued for a long time but if he piggy backs it onto another bill then it could be a possibility. They have done this sort of thing in the past.

I just want to make sure people are clear the program is not gone. Misinformation and getting people alarmed doesn't help anyone. As for Nozzolio, he puts all sorts of stuff in his version of the budget every year but it never passes. There are a bunch of us who go to the hearing every year although this Monday I don't think Nozzolio is going to be there very much because it's all over the papers that he's chairing the redistricting hearing going on at the same time across the hall.
