Notice to new members intending to register - from January 9th 2012

Okay well here it goes. I'm new to all of this, this is actually my first time dealing with my boyfriend being incarcerated at all. He is currently serving time in County for violating his probation. He was sentenced to probation and last year on a drug charge and did 5 months in county and also 4 months in an inpatient rehab facility. He was released from county May 12th, 2011 and served on his probation until Jan 31st, 2012. He has been in county since Feb 6th, 2012 and had a hearing today but it was mitigated until Apr 10th, 2012. The judge & his PO offered him 1yr in prison or 60days in county then intensive probation. As of right now we are both confused as to which is the better choice. I read a lot on this site before deciding to join and ask myself because I didn't want to seem completely ignorant. But I understand he will have to serve 85% of his 1yr sentence if he does choose prison. By that time on Apr 10th he will have 167 days back time from county. What I don't understand is if his time served is going to make his sentence shorter than the 85% how does that work? If he gets credit for his time served which his attorney said he will he will have to serve 143 days in prison which is much less than 85%. But I am very confused as to if that is true? From what I read so far he WILL serve 85%? Also I read about TR & 1093 which could take up to 180 days off his sentence which if that is the case means he would serve no time at all? I am just confused as to how all of this works and I would like to know if anyone else has been through this and could help me to better understand what I am in store for!
