Notice to new members intending to register - from January 9th 2012

Hello, so my boyfriend got offered a "deal" today and it would involve going to Jackson State for diagnostics. Now, he is a rasta, has long dreads and a beard. It is a religious thing but I know most people, esp in the prison system, are not really giving a s#! about it. He heard that he can refuse to cut his hair and that they might put him in isolation for that and that it could &^%^ up his parole. He has also heard that they might beat him up and force shave him. Anyone has experience with that ?

I know they have rules about hair lenght and facial hair, I have never seen any of inmates out of regulation. My man has been stopped several times before visitation because he does a chin strap beard and they would make him shave. They may very well send him to the hole, even the Muslims are clean cut.

Dear all, yes - shaving the newly admitted inmate's head as well as face is mandatory. This is the third step of booking the inmate in. In advance, the inmates got applied delousing soap all over the body (this is done during the strip search) prior to be headed to the intake shower.
