I talked to my son Sunday and he said he had gotten a piece of paper telling him that he was to start a Changes class. What is that? He has been in for 4 months on a 4 year sentence for his 3rd DWI. He comes up for a parole hearing April 17th. Can someone please tell me what this means? Ann

Changes is a pre release class but im not sure why he would be takin it if he hasnt alreay been granted parole

There's a great Sticky in the What You Need to Know Forum about Information about TDCJ CHANGES class. It's a class that most inmates need to complete as a condition of parole, but they can be put into it even if it's not a condition. It means you're one step closer to him coming home! Congrats! Typically, they go to class for three hours a day for 180 hours. They can't go to class if they're on lockdown or the teacher is on vacation etc., so they say it takes about 3-4 months to complete. Great news!
