Hubby calls from jail

so hubby is in jail for almost a week now and collect calls are costly..i asked him if they have phone card at comissary and he said no,calls fr jail is expensive like tonight he called we spoke for 14 mins and its almost $70 for almost 5$ per min.I love to hear his voice but i dont think i would be able to afford these calls..what do u ladies do? by the way my hubby is in theo lacy at orange california

Well not sure bout county calls but prison calls aren't that bad as long as u are considered in the same state I pay 5 dollars for 15 mins but will tell u regardless the calls can get costly especially if u like to hear there voice so u might wanna add that to ur bills an figure how many times they can call within a two week period so u can average the bill hope it gets better for u

i thinks its rediculous how much they charge for collect calls the jail that my husband is only 15 minutes from our house..

Wow almost $5 a min?? I feel bad for thinking our calls from county were expensive. We were paying $4.13 per 15 min call. One nite we talked 15 times an I was thinking damn thats almost $70!! Not sure how much the prison ones will be, im thinking about the same. But no calls for us til after intake

My husband is in prison at Draper in Alabama and for 15mins it cost me $8.00...so we only talk twice a week

Wow that is high for a call.I know when my husband was in county jail and was an hour from me our calls were 1.95 per 15 min call.The prison calls are higher but only 6.99.You may want to try some other companies to set you up a account to save on them.

yes it's very expensive , but I'm just thankful that he called me today , I'm worried on d days he doesn't call, just wish there's other company on that jail for collect calls ,unsure how to choose other phone company, hopefully he will be out there in 2 months though.

Woha! That's a lot. Why is is so much? Is your area code different than the local jail? Thats outrageous. When he was in county it was 2.25 to start the call no matter the length but 15 cents for every minute after that. So an hour was about 12 bucks. He's in reception now, so no calls but I know for a fact you can get cheaper options than 5 dollars a minute.. Just gotta look for something else.

yeah when I listened to how much that call cost before accepting it says $3 for the first minute and $5 per min after that.. he is in Theo lacy orange ca

Do you not have a local number? My boo was in Lacy for almost 6 years, we talked EVERY DAY, sometimes more than once....every single call was always $4.

if hubby is in theo lacey in orange county that is county jail so you should be able to put prepaid money on your phone with global tel link the number to global is 800-483-8314

Yes, offenderconnect.com is for county jail. However, if your number is still from out of state your calls will still be expensive.

Yes it does...if you don't have a local number though it will still be crazy expensive. If that's the case, I would recommend getting a prepaid phone and activating it with a 714 area code, or adding an additional phone to your current cell plan with a 714 area code...I've done both. The prepaid phone started to cost more after awhile, so that's when I just added an additional line to my Verizon account. I hope you are able to make something work for you!!

A google number will work also. And it's free. I live in the east coast and that's what I did. No monthly cost.

Aren't you able to use Globa Tel Link??? If you are, then that's more affordable.....you just have to call and put money on ur fone with a credit crd which can be 25$ or 50$ usually you can talk for 2 and a half hours for 25$ and like 4 with the 50$.... that's wat i did bt my hunny was in wayside i don't know if its the same....let me know if it is so i can give u the number all u need is a credit card; )

How do you get google num, I have tried a few times and can never get local num to victorville, I get so dang aggravated. Im in MS but need local to Victorville CA.

Her LO is in OC Theo Lacy. Calls are only 15 mins at a time and it's $4.25 ( I have to double check) no matter if it's 1 min or 15 mins.
