Default Looking for a new country...

My man is from Moldova and how has an aggravated felony here in the United States. So unless we can make a miracle happen, he will be deported after his sentence is complete (about 7 more months) and then back to Moldova. He says "Moldova is NOT a country for you!" so living there is pretty much out of the question. He keeps saying Australia or maybe the Maldives...even brought up Morocco (??). He has a four year degree in International Studies but so far hasn't done anything with that (he came right to the US after graduating and was arrested 3 years later). and I'm a business owner and an RN...however I haven't worked as an RN in about 6 years. I'm considering closing my business and going back in to nursing to get my skills back up and so we can rely on that income in another country. I think most countries are experiencing nursing shortages so I think I can get in almost anywhere...plus I'm a US citizen.

So I'm "shopping" around for a country that predominately speaks English. I'm open to learning a new language, but with nursing it kind of terrifies me to think about working in a different language...it literally could mean life or death for a patient, you know? My business is high-end wedding videos so Australia is very tempting in that regards too... I know some people there who also do high end weddings and they are doing well there.

We are not married. I think that getting married before he gets deported would possibly make things easier...basically from an immigration stand point he would be tagging along with me (that sounds bad and I would NEVER tell it to him that way...omg! but you know what I mean...) so I feel like being married might make it easier to get both of us in to a new country...am I wrong?

Ohhhhh, I'm sooooo confused! And now I'm suddenly feeling like the time is going to fly by and when he's done I won't have a plan in place!!! The world is soooo big and confusing!!! Help!!!

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for you. I have encountered problems trying to enter some countries, even as a tourist, because of my felony record, so be sure to find out if he will be welcome in the place you decide to move to. Good luck in your search.

I don't even really know where to start looking. I mean first of all he has a Moldovian passport....anything I look up online is pretty much about American's traveling/immigrating with a felony. I imagine it will just be even more difficult because of his citizenship. Ugh. I guess I'll start by calling the Moldova embassy on Monday and see if that gets me anywhere. This is going to be a LOT of work!
