Yes,it is their body and their decision but it can affect everyone they love if they get infected.
Mine thought he was safe and did not take my reservations seriously,either about tattoos or gang validations.He has now had treatment for Hep C.and is gang validated.
I am affected by his decisons and will continue to be.

Lou has some from before he went in ten years ago. He wants more but refuses to get them while in there. THANK GOD!! I would be soooooo mad if he even took the chance. No matter how "clean" you think they are in prison your crazy to think its sterile! There is no possible way the equipment they use is nearly as clean as the equipment they use out here.

J has a few but he will not get any while in there. He is waiting until he comes home, doesn't want to take the risks. I think i may surprise him and make an appointment for the weekend after he comes home! I'm getting him the matching one to mine as a birthday present!!

my bf had tattoos before he went in i dont mind that as long as they arent like really big and all over his body because with guys or girls i think it looks awful if you have alot all over your body

wouldnt having it done with a needle in jail be unsafe and you end up with aids or something else

Yes jail tats can be very unsafe! It can also get them in trouble!

My man has gotten his whole chest tatted in there.. I like them and I think they look sexy on him! I do wish it were a bit more clean but what can we do? He's only gotten one in the year I've known him.. he got his last name on his arm.. He asked me for an imprint of my lips so I did it with lipstick on an envelope... I didn't know it but he wanted it for a tattoo! My crazy boy I love him so much. He hasnt gotten it yet but I'm actually excited for that one, whether he gets it while in there or when he's out. (:

To those of you who have stated that your men have gotten tats while locked up, please remember that this is a PUBLIC site that anyone can read... including those that work at the facilities where your loved ones are housed.

my husband is all tatted up,, he has goten two since he has been in county,, my name and a skill with a crown. I worry about the health risks and tell him all the time, but ultimatly there is not much i can do from out here........ i love that man.

I love tattoos. My boyfriend has one on his chest and is planning on getting a back piece and sleeves done... When he gets out! We both agreed that it is worth waiting to get them done out here to avoid risk of diseases they can get in jail. I can't wait for him to be all tatted up!! Especially now that he's all muscley

We've talked about it several times and the health risks aren't worth it. We're waiting till he gets out.

Although some of the artists are amazing the needles, inks, guitar strings, whatever, are getting reused and there are so many diseases and bacteria in those places. My husband was sick for his first month in with just a cold, much less putting dirty ink into his skin. These guys have to wash their hands constantly and not touch their faces just to stay healthy.

Not worth it inside. I need my baby healthy when he gets home!

He has been in more than once and has been in Ad. Seg or shu all this ride so no worries.
I think they can figure it out just be accounting for what they have when they go in and then when they exit.They make a notation of every tattoo and his "helped" get him validated.

He has a few on his arms and back, I love tattoos. He wanted to get our daughters name while he was in but I asked him to wait until he gets home. So hopefully he doesn't come home with any new tatts. And I don't think he will.

My man has a full shirt and a few other places but he had all these before we met ! He also got all of them in prison. Thankfully he has never gotten Hep C !!! He is getting a few more and I don't mind he seems to know who to trust and also says its one of the least things the guards worry about where he is.
