well, ive heard good things about it, but mainly all im gonna be able to tell you is what it says on the DOC website, all prisons have their ups and downs many inmates opinions vary by what programs they have, but i figured id throw the address in here for you to write him (most important part lol)

My partner is at KMCI and has been for about 3 years now. Its in the middle of no where. Quite scenic. Watch out for deer. You have to wait in what I call 'The Shack' before you go into your visit. Its this teeny tiny little hut where you go to fill out your visitor request form. Then they call over the intercom 'Next!' and the next person (or family/group) approaches the gatehouse to be processed. Visiting starts at 3 during the week, but don't even bother arriving till 3:30 or you could just end up waiting in the shack for 30 minutes because a lot of time others get there super early and wait in line for them to open the shack. In the summer, you can visit outside if you want. They have games like Uno, Memory, Checkers, Chutes and Ladders, etc to play while you visit. They will send you away if you dress too revealing. And the closest store is a Walmart about 20 minutes away. KMCI was originally built NOT to be a prison, but a boy's camp. It originally had a swimming pool, etc. Obviously changes have been made to make it a prison. But its scenic. You will see deer in the parking lot. They are not afraid of people. Watch out for them when you drive around there.

It is really pretty around there. It was our second choice ... I've heard good things as well... But I only have info on Oshkosh.
