Restitution on day of sentencing?

My fiancee's PD is trying to change his 18 month plea into a 10 month one and paying back 2/3 of what the retail stores actually lost (less than $20,000). If the DA accepts the offer, do I have to bring them the money in person on sentencing day? I live about 7 hrs away. He has no record, and the PD feels that paying back the money owed would be a better option for him than prison. Thoughts? Thanks!

Ask the lawyer if paying the restitution now will be helpful or not. Unless immediate payment is part of the agreement to lower his jail sentence, you or he should have the option of paying now, or later, whichever works best for you.
