Well I am lucky enough to have the email option for communication. Believe me, there's been instances, where the quick messages have been almost a necessity, so I'm thankful for that. But even tho I receive emails every single day, we still also do the snail mail letters. And honestly, I think I prefer the snail mail, just because usually they are more personal, more at length, and a lot of times they also contain pictures

Yeh but it depends on what kind of facility your LO is in, not the state. Federal prisons have email, where as like county jails don't.

I'm glad I am able to send him quick emails when I need to get info to him quickly but I prefer the regular letters because I enjoy saving them and having his handwriting. He tells me he doesn't keep the emails because they take up too much space and prefers the letters because he likes to save them and it means more to him to have them in writing.

While my bf was in prison I really liked emailes as I got to hear from him several times a day which is obviously much quicker than snail mail. Having said that though I loved the letters as they were personal, I have kept every single one

It's hard to say, I like the email because it is quicker but I also like the personal touch of a hand written letter. We just started using email but I will still send him letters.

Definitely emails because you get them within an hour and you can email back and forth all day. Love it!

Emails because I get one to read when I wake in the morning and one when I get in from work. But I like the letters as well because they smell like him.

Do the emails cost you? I can send emails but it is a dollar a pop, which can get pricey fast. I have never sent one before. I send out a letter every day but I cram it with stuff, like notes and artwork from the kids, pictures, jokes, song lyrics, my own letter, I just made him some bookmarks, etc. I wouldn't want to give up all of that (which I get for the low price of 45 cents per day) for a short email.

I would love either one, but we can't email I don't think and he hates writing so I don't get letters. We just have our phone calls which I LOVE cuz I absolutely love hearing his voice. It's the best sound in the world. I love hearing him laugh and say "I love you". And sigh. You know that 'I'm so in love with you' sigh? I love hearing it.

I don't know, really. Each serves a different purpose for us. E-Mails are for daily communications, but letters are always really deep, personal, and sweet. E-Mails can be, but letters just definitely have that edge for us.

We have decided that we both like letters better. It's something to hold onto when I start missing him really bad.
