Just want to know is it a safe place, they had on the news someone try to kill their self. Just want to know was it from staff are that person just could not deal anymore. worry mom want to know

I'm not sure people are really going to be able to answer your question as 1. they weren't there and 2. you haven't stated what facility?

Hello and welcome to PTO! I'm glad you've found us!

I want to apologize. I changed the title, and the facility name was there. Sorry! It's the Joe Corely Detention Center. After a little searching, I think you are talking about THIS inmate suicide from 2010. If you click on the underlined, blue stuff, they are links to the article and govt. info about the facility. The article doesn't give much information, so I'm not sure anyone except the inmate and the guards know what happened.

HERE is a PTO thread that gives more information about the facility, and I think you ought to check out the FEDERAL PRISON SYSTEM forums for even more information!

I assume you have a loved one there. I'm sorry you're in this situation. Unfortunately, it is a detention center, and none of them are pleasant. I think you should show your son as much support and love as you can, and remember that this will end eventually. Come back to PTO often, we are here to support you! I wish you the best of luck!

Welcome to Prison Talk. Suicides do happen in prison, and each one is tragic, but regardless of how bad the conditions are, most people choose to get through them rather than take their own lives.
