Default Incarcerated Fiancé Beins Sued

I need some advice! My fiancé is incarcerated and without any means of communication (lockdown until assessment is done and his home prison chosen). Got in the mail that he's being sued (car accident injuries). What are my options? Do I call someone and explain he can't respond in the required 35 days they require him to? Do I get a lawyer for him now? As his fiancé CAN I get him a lawyer? Any ideas? Please lol

contact his insurance carrier. they usually take care of the defense.

generally, they have to appropriately serve him. if he's not living at your address, they have to serve him where he's living. So, if you want to go that route, hire an attorney for him. If you have POA, this becomes much easier while he's unable to communicate with anybody.

otherwise, they won't care about reasons why he hasn't responded within the 35 days. His attorney can file a motion requesting an extension of time.

His insurance sent me information that they won't take care of it because the car accident resulted in a felony, voiding the contract.

I'm def going to consult with an attorney immediately on this matter. POA sounds like the smart way to go and Im going to look into that process right away and but still speak to the attorney about getting the extension until the process is completed.

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! I deeply appreciated it.
