Hi all, I'm new to all this. My boyfriend was recently sentenced to 1 year and 1 day at Brooklyn MDC. He self surrendered a couple days ago and I have not heard from him. How long does it generally take to make calls or visit? I can't stop thinking about him and how he is doing.

No, for Brooklyn MDC I think you would be better off asking in the Federal Prison section of the Prisontalk Forum. Get onto the forum and keep scrolling down and you will see that section. A lot of us have had family members go through Brooklyn MDC.

If this is his first federal prison, he will receive any letters you send him. He will be able to use the telephones and possibly email too after his counselor approves a list of phone numbers he can call and he receives his telephone pin number in the mail. If he has money in his account, he can switch money into his phone account to prepay for phone calls. If he doesn't, he can call collect as soon as he is approved to use the phones. The counselor also will submit a list of approved visitors.

This link tells you how to put money on his inmate account. Only postal money orders and Western Union are not subject to a 15 day hold.

With a sentence of one year, he could serve his time right there, or he might be moved somewhere else depending on the BOP

my sons father has been there for 3 weeks and still has not sent the hone or visiting list but he did write and recive our letters they are very slow with getting imates in the system but you can send him a letter asap and he will write back asap.... how this helps.....
