they've done an experiment over here, you could win 4000 Euros(around 3800 dollars or something) if you spent 20 days in prison. there were 20 candidates selected, divided in 2 groups. 1 group were inmates the other group were CO's. what happened? the prisoners lost every sense of reality, they completely forgot they were in a program where they could get out of it whenever they wanted. the people who were CO's started misusing their 'power' after only 2 days, when they were used to calling people by their numbers and seeing all of themin the same clothes. now keep in mind these people were just 20 people like you and me, who wanted to win some money. this shows how the human mind works....

the thing is, they had to cancel the experiment after only 6 days, the people who were the inmates were completely desillusionated! this shows how bad prison is, I think

I saw a documentary yesterday on the Dutch tv. Do you guys know Ruby Wax from the British tv? She visited this prison. Oh, when I saw that man's face....issed: he's not normal! Ruby made a fool out of him and officer Sunday. The saddest part was when the female chain gang (Ruby was a part of the chain gang, to learn how it is) had to burry people, who have no family or money for a normal funeral...

I agree with the cameras in the parole comission room but we all know if they were aware of the cameras they are not going to do anything illegal.

SORAYA:

THE CENTRAL PRISON TOUR IS ACTUALLY MUCH BETTER THAN BEING ON PREMISE AND SEEING FOR YOURSELF.
CENTRAL PRISON IN RALEIGH IS A 100 YEAR OLD PRISON... IT IS FILTHY DIRTY AND THE HALLS HAVE DIRT BUILT UP FROM THE FLOOR TO THE BASEBOARDS.... THE FLOORS ARE NEVER MOPPED.

INSIDE THE PRISON IN THE CELLS, (EACH PERSON IS IN A SEPARATE LOCKED DOWN CELL) THERE ARE ROACHES CRAWLING ALL AROUND. THE CENTRAL PRISON HAS IT'S OWN HOSPITAL THAT IS USED NOT ONLY FOR CENTRAL BUT FOR MANY OF THE UNITS IN NORTH CAROLINA. IF YOU GO INTO THE HOSPITAL, YOU WOULD PROBABLY PASS OUT BECAUSE OF THE UNCLEANLINESS YOU WILL FIND..... DIRTY SHEETS, DIRTY BANDAGES ETC.

DON'T EVEN BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE... PICTURES CAN BE DOCTORED.

Regarding that jail in maricopa county arizona, I read a story, & saw a news show that stated his revidivism rate isn't much different than other county jails. I saw an interview with the sherrif & his attitude was screw them they did bad so this is what they get. The guy has a contract out on his life & I believe 4 or 5 people have already been busted ploting to kill him.

I would hate to do time in a filthy prison, the ones I was in weren't new but they were fairly clean, & me & my cellies always kept our cell spotless. Although Orange County jail has had a cold going through the ventilation system for years, & everytime someone gets it, it mutates a little, & in a few months time its like a whole new bug, & you get sick again. I also was exposed to TB while working in the laundry at OCJ because of their lack of procedures to handle bio hazardous waste.

EZF has recently received some appalling post cards from prisoners at
the Maricopa County Jail in Phoenix, AZ.

We put them up on the front page of the EZF website.

Yes Soraya your right, & the cameras have been pulled. I tried to see if they were still up & they have disapeared.

Here's a link to an article on it in the Arizona Republic.

Dear Tracy and Justice Seekers,
Thank you for your web site.
I to work in corrections.
Voices must be heard.about what happens
behind the prison walls.
JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED
Florida Department of Corruption
Stated goals of Florida DOC:
Protect Public, Staff and Inmates
As a member of the system but not of the corrupt system,
I to am being screwed by the State of Corruption.
Florida's good ole boy prison system.
Our Florida Prison System has gotten out of hand
and has been left to be run by Thugs who are out
of control and are no good for anything much less
to be put in a facility with peiople who are more
intelligent than they are.

The injustices being done in our prison systems
today is an outrage againt both Professional staff
and Inmates.
The State of Florida Corruptional Deptartment along
State secrects and lies, has fallen prey to political
and bureaucratic egotists.

The misuse of power with dehumanizing treatment
and injustices.with the (just because I can and get
away with it it attitude) that is directed toward
Staff and Inmates.
There is no justice or fairness in a process that
dehumanizes a person.
How can one expect rehabilitation to manifest,
if a human being is locked up in a cage for 23 hours
a day with one hour to strech outside their cell?
Many times 24-7.
Where is the justice in that kind of treatment?
Together we can make many changes.
Those that speak out with the truth will change the system
and hopefully forever. Unfortunatly, Professional Officers
are retaliated against, punished, and put in fear of losing their jobs (being set up) if they voice the truth of what goes on behind the prision walls within the cesspoole of corruption, along with it's state secrets, lies, injustces, and coverups.
This is A very much needed web site. I hope that more will join in to expose what REALLY goes on in our prisons. And yes, one person can make the difference.
Thank God for all of you.

Best regards,
Whistleblower

It's nice to have some people here that work in the DOC and realize that there's something wrong. It's nice to also hear your side of the story, you guys can give us another input too.

WHISTLEBLOWER:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR STATEMENTS.... YES, WE ALL KNOW THAT FLORIDA, TEXAS, NORTH CAROLINA, ILLINOIS ETC ALL ALL IN THE VERY SAME SHAPE.... YES, YOU ARE RIGHT, THERE ARE 25 % OF THE PERSON WHO WORK IN THE SYSTEM WHO REALLY DO TRY TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT... BUT, THE OTHER 75% ARE SO VERY POWER HUNGRY THAT THEY COULD NOT GET A JOB ON THE OUTSIDE IF THEY WANTED TO.... THE OUTSIDE WORLD WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO WORK.

I KNOW HOW HARD IT MUST BE TO WORK FOR THEM..... MY FUTURE DAUGHTER IN LAW DID ONCE TOO. SHE CAN REALLY TELL YOU SOME HORROR TALES FROM NC.

MY BEST WISHES TO YOU AND CONTINUE TO POST WITH YOUR IDEAS AND HELP.

THANKS

I agree that someone has to get the politiicians attention so that changes can be made to the Correctional System in the US. I feel that it will be a long time coming because who really cares about inmates in prison? Think about it. These are the lowest of low. Alot of people believe men and women in prison deserve what ever treatment they receive. This is from complete ignorance.

I would have never taken a second look if I hadn't went to work for the DOC and met my future husband there. I have gained tremendous knowledge since November of 2000.

Just like now, my Fiancee is being punished for falling in love with a former employee of the DOC---(ME). Is this fair? I don't think so. All they are doing is showing who has the power. All the Doc would have to do in this case is let me visit the man I love. This would have stopped alot of aggrevation, mental anguish, and alot of their precious time, but this would be way too simple and humane to allow a model citizen to visit with the man she is going to marry. The DOC's way of thinking is totally off the mark and they can't even see it when it is right in front of their face.
