My husband is currently serving 4, 1-15 year sentences at Gunnison. We've been married 8 1/2 years, and we have 2 kids. I have no idea how much time he'll end up serving, all I know is he goes before the parole board in Feb. 2008. (Seems like a million years away) Ever since this happened, I've come to realize, there are alot of good guys serving time in our prisons. They are fathers, husbands, son's, brothers...My husband is serving a ridiculous amount of time for a mistake. He is one of the kindest, most generous men I have ever met. Our legal system has to figure out a way to punish people, without punishing the innocent children who are forced to grow up without a parent.
That's my 2 cents......Thanks for indulging me.

Jakey'sgirl, my husband is also in Gunnison (I get to see him tomorrow!!!) and I agree with everything you said. It is sad.

Are you in Northern Utah? Maybe we could carpool for visits once in a while.

Hello everyone. I am from texas but my fiance is newly in davis county correctional facility hopefully just until the review in sept 2007. I have never been involved in a relationship with someone that had to spend time. He previously was in Gunnison 2001-03 and I think thats why the judge was so hard this time. anyway I obviously can't visit but I am spending plenty on phone calls. by the way does anyone have problems with getting a trac fone to work with recieving calls. I got one with that area code so i could get a local charge and not long distance. anyway nice to be here.

hello kktx...my name is angel, i am new to the site, however my hubby has been in gunnison for almost 5 months now and i believe that you can only make collect calls from there, and only to house phones, he has been there plenty of times before, but this is the first time since being with me, good luck hun

Well I figured out the trac fone thing. Just get it set up with the area code that they are in and you only pay 3.50 per call rather than 20.00. Well I thought utah was beautiful when i was there for justons psi and sentencing but i know we probably won't be back after he has completed this. He was also at gunnison for 3 yrs so i know the judge looked hard at that. I have written the judge a letter and faxed it over. Don't know if i will even get a response. He even refused work release for him. Juston doesn't ever want to go back to utah. blames the whole state. i am sure he will lighten up hopefully. well i will be there in layton in september for his review. does anyone know if judges usually release them on the day of review if they have had good behavior or make them wait the extra 3 weeks to total the 6 months. anybody close to that area....nite for now have to work in am.

hi everyone my name is DeAndra and my boyfriend is in draper and his been there for a long time about ten years berfore i met him and we've been together for about a month before he got locked up again and now we're planning on getting married and he went back in april and he got out in march but he'll be on parole in jan. 15 2008 but i guess his going to another hearing soon but i guess i'll wait to see whats going on i called the prison and they told me that and they don't have a date on when they told me to keep calling to see what happens

if he is in prison and you are talking about the parole hearing no they do not release him, they will mail him a decision which usually takes 4-8 weeks for him to get on when he will be released.
however if he is in jail and you are talking about a review with the judge then it is a possiblity.

Hi, My husband is out now and we are happy to be back together after 6 years apart. He was a fugitive in South America for 5 years before he turned himself in so we could be together again. I'm so happy to have him back. Now if we can just get past the next two years of AP&P.

This is my first post although I have been reading for some time.

Hi Michelle. Welcome to PTO. Sadly, the Utah forum isn't very active so I would suggest looking into the main forums for one that fits your needs. I try to check these boards periodically but there just isn't much going on.

Hahaha thanks Marina! Yeah I noticed, hopefully one day it will pick up for Utah...but that seems to be doubtful.
