Hey, I'm Jen. I'm 28. My fiancee's name is Rodney. He's 44. I had to actually just figure that up. I never think about it. My fiancee is in Fort Madison ISP. He's serving 2 20 year consecutive sentences for burglary 1 and theft 1. He's a habitual offender. I have no Idea how long he will actually serve cause I don't know Iowa's laws. He's up for post conviction proceedings this month. I knew him before he went in although we were just friends at the time. All of his family is gone from this life except his uncle. His uncle is part of why he is in prison so they are not talking. My family is very supportive and all love Rodney very much.
He's been in almost 2 years now. I love him more than life!!!!!
HOpe this forum gets going again. I know I could use some support as well as others. Thanx for listening and Nice to meet everybody.

Hi, I'm Rhonda and my boyfriends name is Jack. He is serving life in Ft. Madison and has been there for 23 years. We were sweethearts years ago and we're falling back in love. And it's just GRAND!! Hoping to get him out, hoping to help publish his beautiful writings and loving him to pieces. Can't wait for our first visit!!! We write constantly and talk on the phone. He wrote me a 62 page letter over the weekend took me two hours to read it. Silly!

Default Reluctant Intro

I ( as many here are) am new to all of this. Without going into to much drama and detail, my baby brother just got sentenced to life. He has been sent to IMCC for a bit to later be transferred to Anamosa or Fort Madison.... I guess I have way too many questions to even begin to ask.

I am completly lost and confused as to what to do to or even how to begin to work my way through the prison system...

Anyhow, I have alot of reading to do here on this sight.. Thank you for letting me at least make an attempt to sort through this whole mess....

Talking Hi back at ya' here in Iowa!

Hi all! I'm Mark (duh) and I have two close friends who are charged in both the state and federal system! These two women are not sentenced yet but both cases are Capital offenses. One faces life in prison, the other is facing the death penalty. I have done time in Anamosa myself. 4 yrs 8 mo's in the '90's. Though my internet access is limited (I'm using a public terminal temporarily) I will be happy to answer any questions I can. Hey betrayed, how can I get a forum going to support those who are WRONGLY accused!! Their situation sucks pretty bad too. Message me with any suggestions or questions. MarkL

Hi
I have 6 children and One in MPCF and hopefully he'll be out this next summer. I have over 30 penpals across the us in prisons, so I will always be with PTO, even after my son is out.

Hey all, my name is Laura and I have a male buddy in Marshalltown right now, drugs, 3rd conviction, tax stamp, intent to deliver. Looking at 25 yrs, court is Dec 23rd. I've known who he was since high school (20 yrs ago) but actually just met him a few months ago. His gf (at least for now) got moved to Missouri, racked up my collect call bill so I have to get that paid down for him to call me. At least I can write him. I miss him a lot for knowing him only a few months. Wonder if I can go visit him on Christmas, hope so. Anyway, glad to find this place!!!

Default Hi, all...

Well, I ran across this website by accident, and have been reading your posts, and decided to join. I can't give my name right now because my son's case has not gone to court yet. (He is currently in a county jail, and his bail is so high that I can't afford to bail him out pending trial). He has been charged with Felony B's for drugs (looking at 25 years each), plus a bunch of other charges. As my name states, I am "still hoping" We have a long road ahead of us yet.

He is only 27, and has a little boy. He was in prison here in Iowa for 8 months, released February '03. I have another son who is familiar with the prison system, also. I hope I can be of some help. I have also worked some in the judicial system.

Thank you all. I am sure you will see my frequently!

Default How to find your son in Iowa's prison system

Julie,

You can trck your son by going to www.doc.state.ia.us/OffenderInfo.asp, filling in his name -- it works even with only a first name -- and then clicking the "find" button. Click on his name when it pops up and it will give you more information than you really want to see.

I hope that helps.

Hi! My name is Dawn. I am new to this website. I came across it trying to find my ex-husband. Most people don't want to do that but were different. We were childhood friends and developed physically and mentally towards one another. After our divorce we remained as close as ever. Now I feel I have lost him. I last spoke to him about a year ago. I have ran his number through numerous Iowa prison databases and keep coming up with the same place Iowa Medical & Classification Center. I have wrote there 3 times and all the letters returned. I don't know where else to look and I know that he wouldn't not accept them. They all say "no known name". But all the databases say he's there. I have even used pay sites to try and locate him. Now I guess I am here to help me emotionally. I feel I will never find him. From what I have read he got 11 years. I don't want to wait that long to talk to him, everyone in our prison system needs support now as well as when they return home.

Default New to this

Hi.
I am also from Iowa and lost my man to Oakdale. He was sentenced to ten years for marijuana. At this point, it's only been 3 months, but I'm thankful I found this site. (Just wish I had found it sooner!) LOL!!
This is a first time for me and I'm not sure what is worse. ... The confusion, the pain, the fear or just not being able to see him each day.

My fiance was just sent to Oakdale. Im so annoyed with that place. Before in county jail I was talking to him everynite and seeing him twice a week for the last 5 months. Its killing me to only talk to him every other day and now I dont even think they are going to let me see him when he is placed. Im on probation until the end of May. Does anyone have any idea when I will finally be able to see him?

I am new here. My husband has only been in Oakdale for about a month. I just found out that he is going to have to go to a maximum security facilty. That totally freaks me out. I have stood by his side during his 6 month jail times. I have never done the prison thing and I am scared. I am happy, sad, mad, and frustrated all at the same time everyday. He told me that his counselor said he would only do 15-18 months. I am scared to go visit when I am able to. I hope that he is going to anamosa. That is the closest to where we live. I feel like I could go crazy and my journey has only begun.

WELCOME TO PTO:
Crystal, I understand what your going thru. The hardest part is not knowing what to expect. there are alot of wonderful members here on PTO that can help you answer any of your questions, or if you just want to talk.

Everything will work out. Best Of Luck,

Beth Ann

Hey all, I just want to take some time to thank you for everything so far. I joind this past week and I have recieved so much help already.

My boyfriend just got 70 years with a 15 min. Today he was sent to IIMC, and I am down right now about that. He has been in county since Oct. 26, 2004 so it has been long enouf there.

I miss him so much. I do not live in Iowa and it is very hard to get back there to visit so we do a lot of talking on the phone and writing.

How long is it going to be till I get to hear from him? I sent a money order to Oakdale yesterday in the 2-3 day mail. I can't stand not hearing from him.

Anyway I will be asking alot, and working on getting him out. He is in for some bullshit, that I can't even began to say. Plus this lawyer did not fight for him and so lets pray we can get a appele lawyer that knows what he is doing.

Hit me up and let me know if you ever need anything I am pritty good on the internet and finding stuff...

Peace to all

Hi, all.. I originally posted back in December while my son was in our county's jail (we live here in Iowa).

He spent 5 1/2 months in county jail, and plead earlier this month. He received a 25-year sentence for drugs. He is currently at Oakdale (Iowa Medical and Classification Center) waiting for placement.

I am impatiently waiting to find out where he is going, and have yet to hear from him, other than getting information (visitation & rules and regs) from him.

If anyone has any questions that I may be able to answer, please let me know.

Hi. I'm new to the site/forum and I live in Iowa. My boyfriend is currently in IMCC waiting transfer. We hear it is probably Newton. He is in for a probation violation with a pending court date...probably toward the end of September. Through this site and through personal emails with a member (thanks!!!) I have learned more than I ever thought (and still more to go) I would. All the information that has been given to me has been correct and has helped a great deal. Let's keep this going. I know I'm just beginning, from what I hear.

my fiance is in clarinda i live about 2 hours away so i see him often.. if your visiting clarinda here are some tips
Mondays and Fridays are of course the best time to visit, you get right in and the visiting room is completely empty.
The first weekend of every month is awful, ive sat up to 3 hours in the waiting room to see him; your lucky if you find a place to sit.. if you have to visit Saturdays, get there super early!!
Also I know they do count at 1:00 so get there at least 15 min before or you will have to wait until count is over and sometimes that can take awhile.
BE very careful what you wear ladies, they are very picky! Clarinda has a large amount of sex offenders so they are very strict on dress.. ive been in trouble 3 times its very frustrating..
hope this is helpful...
