Girl in a heart beat, I can't wait and before the dust settles I'm gonna have my named changed!!!!!!!!!!!! As a matter of fact he asked me to marry him twice, once while he's in there and then again when he comes home, for me, see how special he is................and I'm loving it..............

It's really not that odd. I don't share my husband's name and I know lots of other women who don't share their husband's name either. I have a professional reputation linked to my maiden name and I also just happen to like my name so I didn't take his. I love him very much but I want to retain my own name. I might feel differently if it was my husband who was in prison. Then, I would think about taking his name as a sign of solidarity. But it's my brother who is in prison, not my husband.

not sure if i already posted, but i want to keep my own it is what is on my birth certificate, but I will add his, and he wants to do the same. so we will have both! we will both hyphenate.

I changed my name as soon as the cert. came in the mail . My husband and I talked about it long before the I do's and we'd have it no other way !!!!

I would change it. I have a sort of weird last name and get it misspelled all the time so it would be nice to have a more common and simple last name.

I am getting married May 17th, 2008. I will not officially change my name right away due to financial things. The minute he gets out if not before my name WILL be changed to his. As soon as the financial things get straighten out my name will be changed. In the meantime, I will use it periodically--legal or not.

there's no stoping me from taking his name. but he'll be home before we get married, he wants everything to be perfect for me, even though all i require is him, me a minister and the papers that make it legal

Due to the fact that my family is so against our union, we decided that to keep the pressure off of me for awhile we are going to keep our marriage between God, him, myself, and our kids. But please believe that once he steps outside that prison I will take his name regardless of my family's approval or not.

We haven't even been approved to be married and he addresses all of my letters with his last name ... I guess that is his way of telling me he expects me to change once we are married

... not a biggie, I will be happy to have his last name.

its kinda wierd when we get married to have his last name because its asian and i am native so its like what. his last name is asian and its long. but that will not stop me for having his name.. i will rock his last name.. lmao

yep that is so me we ain't married but yet he writes me and on the envelope he put to my wife with my name and his last name. he wanted me to order magazine for him and he said put it under that same name mine with his last name . that is for sure you what not have to ask me 2x.
