Default Hardship Relocation-General Info

My son is in Lieber C.I. and he said that if I had a statement from my Dr he may be able to be relocated closer for me to visit. I called his caseworker he she gave me the following info, I thought it might be useful.

1.) She said to send the letter directly to the inmate and they should give it to their caseworker.
2.) They only have relocations twice per year, the next is due March 2005 and I assume Sept 2005.
3.) The letter can be from Chaplan,Pastor, etc or from Doctor and are good for a term of 5 years. I suppose if the inmate is denied they can resubmit for next term?

My son is trying for relocation in March, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers,
Danny

Hi, I am in Florida but I met a man and his wife at my fiance's prison who managed to get their son transferred closer to them due to the fathers poor health. He had his doctor give letters saying it was a hardship for him to travel 8 hours to the prison his son was at, he said he sent the letters to the Chaplain, Classification Officer, and Warden and also to the Classification Office and it took about 6 months to get it done. Hope this helps someone.

My son was on a hardship transfer list since October and was transferred last week. We had to "stay on" the people in classification in Columbia. But it was worth it. We got doctor's notes from my mom's, my grandma's, my ex husband's and my son's other grandfathers doctors. We sent them all to my son and sent a copy to classification in Columbia. My son gave them to his case worker and he was supposed to put him "on a hardship transfer list". I think calling classification in Columbia to verify that the caseworker has put the inmate on a list is your best bet.

My son's caseworker never did and after we kept calling and calling, Columbia did it. Good luck and best wishes to you.
